New: 3.1b20061230

New in this build:

  • Revamped tag display (consolidated to one pane, not multiple tabs)
  • Track and disc number and total are now separate fields
  • Inline validation for integer-based fields (track number, disc number, etc)
  • Reorder tabs by dragging
  • Import XML via drag and drop
  • No more locking and unlocking of fields, simply Ctrl-click the field’s label to apply the data to all fields
  • No more “true” and “false” dropdowns, uses checkboxes instead
  • Temporarily removed support for iTMS tags and artwork
  • Huge backend changes for smaller filesize and less memory consumption

You can grab Tagger 3 from the Download page.

New: LongDescription

A new build (Java 6 only) of LongDescription is available. It makes use of a better library to interact with iTunes, optimizes a few things, and does not quit iTunes when it quits.

New: 3.1b20061217

New in this build:

  • Save As (as in, you don’t need to overwrite a file)
  • Import/Export of tags in XML
  • Internationalization (leave a comment if you’re interested in translating Tagger in your language)
  • Preferences are stored in a built-in Java mechanism (no more prefs.ini)
  • * appears next to name on tab of unsaved files
  • Open dialog works more similarly to the native interface
  • Release Date and Purchase Date can now accept just a date in the format yyyy-mm-dd (the time part is not necessary; just a year is accepted as well)
  • Better error handling
  • Theoretical cross-platform support (I’m looking particularly for OS X testers)
  • New AtomicParsley build
  • Numerous optimizations and bug fixes

Please note that a Java 5-specific build is no longer supported as Sun has released its Java 6 RE final build, availalbe at their site.

You can grab Tagger 3 from the Download page.

New: 3.0b20061207

Scripting has been removed entirely from this build as it was just bloat. I’ve also attempted to optimize some portions of the program. From now on, the builds will be packaged as RAR archives, as they offer better compression than ZIP. A new version of AtomicParsley is also included, along with a required DLL.
